3 Fresh Ways To Style Peonies

Peonies, They're Just Too Pretty To Resist

Image

Peonies are my most-loved flowers and every summer I can't wait for mine to bloom.  What do I love about these little pink ladies?  It's pretty obvious - they're just so darn gorgeous.  They brighten up everyroom they dwell in and bring a smile to my face.

Did I mention, that peonies are so easy to arrange?  Because of their beauty they can stand solo or with just a touch of greenery.

How to Prepare Your Peonies

  • Prepare your vase.  In my opinion, peonies look best when they are not floppy.  To secure the peonies in the vase, create a grid using transparent scotch tape (refer to image below).

  • Using sharp shears, cut the stems at an angle.  Why?  Because they will absorb more water this way.

  • Remove any foliage from the stems.  Personally I like a touch of greenery, so I will keep a leaf, or two, on a few stems.

  • Quickly place the peonies in room temperature water.

  • Enjoy.

A few things you should know...

  • Peonies are at their freshest when they are in the bud stage, lasting a week or more.  If you get peonies that are already fully open, they will only last a few days.

  • Need those buds to open quickly - hot water will help speed up the opening process.

  • Change the water and trim the stems daily to enjoy these little beauties for as long as possible.
