Family, Friends, Traditions & Turkey, what more could a girl ask for?  Oh wait, one more...elastic waistbands!  I digress:).There are many reasons why I love this holiday, a few I’ve stated already, but another favorite of mine is planning, organizing and setting the table. When your guests walk into your home and see a Thanksgiving table set with care, you’re sending a message of gratitude, peace, and welcome- exactly the tone you want to set for your Thanksgiving Feast. To help ease the stress of hosting on this glorious day, I’ve included 4 tips on how to create your unique Thanksgiving Table Decor.

Step 1. Choose a Color Scheme

I recommend choosing 3 colors as a base to work with. Are you wondering how do you choose? Well do as I say, and when in doubt turn to our beloved Pinterest for Inspiration. Another tip is to work with what you’ve got, choose colors that are currently used within your home decor or will compliment it. This year I chose to use White, Green, and Blue for my Thanksgiving Table Decor color scheme. My goal was to create an elegant but cozy look; layered and textured using natural seasonal elements.

White - For Halloween this year I decorated my house with white pumpkins, so I decided to reuse them for my Thanksgiving Table Decor. I fell in love with the white artichokes from my favorite home decor store, Salt Creek Home, located in Edwards, CO.

Green - Salt Creek Home has the most adorable green artichoke candles that I knew I wanted to incorporate. In lieu of traditional flowers, I added these gorgeous boxwood balls that will last all the way thru the Holiday season.

Blue - My home has a lot of blue within the decor, so that was an easy choice. I softly layered blue in using navy ticking stripe linen napkins, throws and table runner (actually a throw), and dinner plates.

Step 2.  Reuse

A beautiful and well appointed tablescape doesn't have to break the bank. Choose pieces that you love and that work within your color scheme from your home decor. I have an antler that my son found on my Dad’s hunting land in Northern MN. This piece normally resides on my coffee table but I knew it would work perfectly with my color scheme of White, Green and Blue.    I think the antler tied in the other natural seasonal elements- pumpkins, artichokes and boxwood, perfectly!

Step 3. Mix and Match

Gone are the days of perfectly coordinated decor. I prefer a homier look that's equally chic and cozy. Play with different metals, dishes and stemware. This will help bring in a variety of heights, sizes and textures to the table. I loved using various throws from Salt Creek Home. Mix and Match rule of thumb- choose a color scheme and you can use any prints or patterns within those colors, and it will all come together in that coveted effortlessly chic sytle!

Step 4. Don’t Overthink It

Relax, Enjoy and Remember what Thanksgiving is all about.  You give, you share, you feel, you laugh, you cry, you eat, you drink and you thank loved ones.
