O CHRISTMAS TREE...

Image

By far, my favorite Colorado Christmas tradition is cutting down our perfect Colorado Christmas tree. We started this tradition after the birth of Hudson in Vail in 2005, and have carried it on every year since.  Well, except the year Stella Kate was born.  Ugh, that was the worst Christmas tree ever!  My sweet Stella Kate was born on December 10th, and I couldn't muster the strength to hike around outside chasing my adventurous 2 year old with a 9 month pregnancy belly.  So I convinced my husband to run to the grocery store and grab a 12 ft Christmas tree from the tree lot.  Sure, it was quick and easy, plus the tree was beautiful (minus the distinct gasoline smell).  But I would rather spend the day with my friends and family hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains searching for the "perfect" charlie brown tree than taking the quick and easy route.  There are so many amazing spots from Vail to Minturn to Eagle and beyond to find that perfect family Christmas tree.  Anyways, I digress... needless to say, the memories we have made from year to year with this family tradition in the Vail Valley is priceless.  Happy tree hunting to you!

Tips and Tricks to Cutting Down Your Own Christmas Tree  | Eagle, Colorado

1.  Purchase your tree permit, $10 at Batsons Corner Store in downtown Eagle, CO.

2.  Pack snacks, water and adult beverages.  We love using our Yeti mugs, it kept our coffee and baileys toasty warm. PACK IN          PACK OUT.

3.  Don't forget your saw and tie downs.  Important step, one that we have forgotten in the past!

4.  Bring layers.  The fun will last for hours if everyone is warm.

5.  Lastly, bring your camera and enjoy the outdoors!
