Are you feeling a little gloomy in a still-overcast month of February? Well, the soon to be fashion trend of Spring 2018 will surely lift your spirits. On trend this spring is "paintbox colors." Electric fuchsia, citrus-y lemon, cherry tomato, princely purple, sky blue and military green.
Nervous about adding some color to your wardrobe? Stuck in a rut of neutrals and hues that are a safe bet? I know I am. Wearing bold colors can be intimidating to wear and style. No worries, here are some easy guidelines to follow when purchasing your "paintbox color" apparel for spring.
FOLLOW THESE EASY GUIDLINES:
1. Pick a color that compliments your skin tone.
2. Match with Neutrals and Darks.
3. Keep your look monochromatic. For example, I paired my cherry tomato silk top from JCrew with a dark wash jean, a neutral shoe (leopard print is a neutral, duh) and a bag in the same color as my top. Choose one color from your paint box and stick to it.
4. Don't pair a saturated color with a pastel. Try color blocking (choosing colors next to eachother on the color wheel ). For example, I could pair my cherry tomato JCrew top with a fuchsia skirt. If you're going bold. Go bold all of the way.
5. Bold apparel isn't for everyday or for everyone. If you still want to be on trend, pick up a gorgeous tangerine clutch or a sky blue statement necklace. Just remember to follow the guidelines above.
