How to Get Flawless Skin

8 Healthy Habits of People With Flawless Skin

Image
Flawless skin -  We all want it.  How do we get it?

Everyone wants healthy, glowing skin, but the truth is skin care products can only do so much to help you get a flawless complexion.  Sure, you can "fake" flawless skin with makeup, but the best glow comes from within. Flawless skin is a result of the totality of our lifestyle- so what we eat, drink and do on a daily basis reflects in our complexion (let's just say I'm not feeling so hot after a week long birthday party and the Fourth of July, ugh).

But, before worrying about how much money to spend on products and whether you should choose the light or heavy moisturizer, there are several healthy habits that you can adapt into your daily routine that will help you get that flawless skin, without spending money.

Here, I am sharing 8 healthy habits you can do to get your skin to glow.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

"Beauty sleep" is real my friends - Your skin needs hours to heal and recover from the day's damage.  It's recommended to get 8 hours of sleep each night, so give it a try.  There are many beauty benefits to a good nights rest; brighter eyes, fewer breakouts, even skin tone, less puffy - overall a little more fresh and rosey.  Not to mention, a calmer and more present mom.

Hydrate From Within

Drink your water!  Get clear skin and hydrate from within.   I try and drink half of my body weight of water in onces daily.  Benefits of drinking water?  There are plenty; water helps clear the toxins that cause inflammation and blemishes, helps transport nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells, and can make the skin appear more plump.  If you don't love the taste of  water - squeeze lemon juice into it, add fresh rasberries, or muddle in mint.

Post-Workout Glow

Who doesn't love that great post-workout glow?  When you get your heart pumping from exersise you are suppling your skin with a nice dose of oxygenated blood.  Working out also helps detoxify the skin, tones the skin and improves the blood circulation.  Instant Glow.

Healthy Balanced Diet

Beauty does start from within.  What we eat directly effects our skin's appearance.   Eating the correct balance of foods will feed your skin the essential nutrients it needs, helping it to stay soft, supple, and blemish-free.  Try followng Whole30, my skin has never looked so good.

Moisturize Your Skin

Morning and Nightime skincare routines are important to get and maintain flawless skin.  Moisturizing your skin not only feels great but it can help keep your skin clear, smooth and slow down the visible aging process - wrinkles.  The sequence in which you apply your products could be even more important than the products themselves.  For the correct order read here.

Protect Your Skin

There's no way around it, people with flawless skin apply sunscreen daily - rain or shine.  Please remember that SPF in foundations are not enough protection for a day out in the sun.  In my bag, I always have the Color Science Brush-On Shield powder for touchups throughout the day.

Skip The Rosè

Ugh.  All alcohol dehydrates the skin, meaning your skin will appear less plump and fresh the next morning.  Listen, I love to drink a glass of wine or a cocktail just as much as the rest of you.  But when I'm wanting my skin to have that glow, I will skip the rose and have a cup of tea instead.  Boring, I know, I'm not that happy about it either.

Wash Your Face At Night

It kills me everytime I hear a friend or client say that they never wash their face at night - kills me.  Truth is, several years ago I was that friend and client too, until my cousin / talented aesthetician, Katherine Bredice, explained to me the importance of washing your face at night.  She told me that your skin ages 7 times faster if you don't remove your makeup and wash your face at night.  Not sure if that's scientifically proven or not but that's all I needed to hear.  Before bed, set aside 5 minutes for a little "me time", pour yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a nightime skincare routine.  I don't know a single women who wants their skin to age at a rate 7 times faster, not one.
