BEACHY HAIR, DON'T CARE VIBE!
I've been a mountain girl for 15 years but I grew up in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes. Mabye that is why I love styling my hair with that undone beachy hair, don't care vibe. The key to this look? Make sure your curls don't look too perfect. After all, you want to look like you've been swimming in the lake/ocean all day.
STEP 1 BLOW DRY / SECTION YOUR HAIR
On damp hair apply a heat protectant to your hair. I use Kérastase Spray à Porter, it is a multi-dimensional beach spray, has buildable texture, a soft touchable finish, and UV and heat protection. After blowdrying your hair, take two thirds of you hair and tie it into a top knot, leaving the bottom third down.
STEP 2 VERTICAL CURLING
For curling my hair I have tried several options; a wand, 1" iron and a 2" iron. My favorite is the 1.5" curling iron from hot tools, it creates a loose curl. Use whatever you are most comfortable with and what works best with your hair. Seriously, if anyone can teach me how to use a wand without burning myself a ba-zillion times I would forever be greatful... and yes, I was wearing the Michael Jackson gloves.
Disclaimer; Most important tip when curling your hair for that beachy vibe, hold your curling iron vertical! Take a 1" section of hair and wrap the hair from the root to the end in a spiral motion. Leave 2" of hair undone (straight). When the bottom section is done, let the rest of your hair fall loose and finish your vertical curling.
STEP 3 STYLE YOUR BEACHY HAIR
I don't like a ton of product in my hair but I do love Kérastase products. We are lucky to have this line availabe in Edwards, CO at Bliss Hair Studio. When styling my hair in that undone beachy hair vibe, I use 3 Kérastase products; Spray á Porter, Elixir Ultime and V.I.P.
A.) After curling, allow your hair to cool completely. B.) Run your fingers through your hair to loosen your curl C.) Lightly mist Kérastase Spray á Porter focusing on the middle portion of your hair, avoiding the roots and the ends. D.) Next, work in Kérastase Elixir Ultime to the ends of your hair. This product will help control fizz, smooth the hair and add a touch of shine. E.) Lastly, finish this look with a few sprays to your roots of Kérastase V.I.P, this product will instantly add volume to the hair.
